Spring Cleaning Guidelines
« on: February 20, 2009, 01:13:35 PM »

In the days of Reflective, there were two clip-submission "competitions" of sorts.  I believe was one called the "clip club" and the other the "clip showcase."  Each of these were  coordinated by Yejoon (crap, joonbobbandit, alex's dad, dad, roxy, ...you know him). In these showcases, a single song was chosen and given to all who wished to participate.  Each dancer would record a clip of themselves dancing to this track with the intention of showing how a single track could be interpreted in so many different ways depending upon the dancer.  I participated in both showcases and thought that they were not only fun but also a motivating factor to improve my technical/dance ability.

Welcome to the next revision of this series of showcases.  Yejoon has once again sparked some interest in this idea and we'll be putting a bit of a spin on what we've done in the past.  Here are the general guidelines for clip submission:

Quote
-Record a clip relatively focused on a pre-existing or brand new concept pertaining to Liquid that you wish to improve upon over time. (in example: rails, splits, intertwined concepts, new concepts that have yet to be named, etc)

-Upload that clip to youtube.com or vimeo.com.

-Make a thread in this subforum (Spring Cleaning) and post your clip with a description of what you are trying to acheive in the next 4 weeks as it pertains to what you've demonstrated in the clip.  This thread will be used by other floasis members to comment on and critique what you've presented.

-In the next 4 weeks, fine tune what you've presented in your original clip submission.

-Before the second submission's deadline, record another clip using the same track that you used in the original submission focusing around the same concept that you chose for the original submission.

-Post the second clip in the same thread that you created for your original submission.

Deadlines:

First submission: March 1st, 2009.
Second submission: March 31st, 2009.

The idea of this showcase is to improve cleanliness of presentation.  Even the most complex arrangements of conceptual illusion pale in comparison to the simplicity of a well-presented illusion.  Keep this in mind as you're recording and improving over this time period.
